In case you haven’t heard the term before, “hardscaping” is the use of materials such as large rocks, landscape ties, stones, and bricks, to produce outdoor architectural features like walls, paths, gazebos, and patios. It’s basically all of the work we do before the addition of vegetation such as flowers and shrubs. Hardscape skills are essential for outdoor transformations, where attention to issues such as slope stability and drainage are paramount.

A slope too steep for walking can be transformed into a series of terraced gardens with stone pathways and patios. Bare land can be transformed into an English Garden with wildflowers, privacy hedges, and a bridge over a pond.
